Let me state, my friends love this place and that is why I had the opportunity to check it out while on holiday. The restaurant is a small space by the beach in La Jolla. It definitely does not have the look of you typical BBQ shop. Yet, it still has the warm inviting feel.
What this place does not lack is atmosphere and fun menu items. There is live jazz at night. On friday nights during football season, well dress business men sit at the bar locking eyes with the flat screen tvs. The restaurant sits off a marina so the outdoor seating is complete with a view of water.
With Locations in Santa Monica and Hollywood, the Bodega Wine Bar is a cool
spot for tapas and wine. MCCN held a Meetup event at the Bodega in Santa Monica. Among the foods enjoyed were the pepperoni & cheddar plate(aged Vermont white cheddar), brushetta & olive tapenade, roasted fingerling potatoes(with shallots, herbs & garlic aioli), pepperoni & mushroom pizza, goat cheese & pear salad, and the scene stealer, brie & apple pizza. It was so good that I am pondering how to make this simple yet fabulous creation at home. The roasted fingerling potatoes were understated but impressive in the subtle flavors. The beverage of choice for me, sangria. I could not help paring it with the tapas. The Sangria is top notch. Many Sangrias tend to be thin in texture watered down by the other liquid. However, the Sangria at the Bodega, a wine bar promises a concoction that finds a balance of distinct wine flavor to enhance the Sangria experience. (In photo the brie & apple pizza).
Welcome to the one of the most happening area's in San Diego the Gaslamp Quarter where the Wet Willie's franchise has made a home. What is the Wet Willie's experience? It has been described as slurpee meets hard liquor.
