A coworker of my hubby's recommended we spend our next date night at Jimmy's Famous American Tavern...so we did! Located in The Promenade at Point Loma in San Diego, California, Jimmy's Famous American Tavern is a great casual restaurant right on the water.

My first libation was a "must-have" recommendation called thestrawberry_lemonadeStrawberry Ginger Deluxe consisting of vodka, ginger liqueur, strawberry juice right from the strawberry, some lemon juice, bitters and champagne (the terrific bartender read off the ingredients to me so I hope I remembered them all). Although the drink presented in front of me was beyond gorgeous, and looked too pretty to touch, I was not a fan of the taste. The ginger liqueur was way too strong for my palate. However, the recommender of the drink spoke very highly of it saying it was one of the best drinks she has ever had!

We sat at the bar and watched one of the many enormous flat screens and dined on appetizers. First up, Spicy Peel and Eat Shrimp. The shrimp were HUGE! And there were a lot of them for this to be an appetizer! It was a really good dish, served with perfectly grilled sourdough bread, cut into triangle shapes, excellent for dipping in the tangy liquid sauce in which the shrimp were laying. The sauce was a tad bit salty for my palate. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and were easy to remove from the shell. At $14, this was completely worth the money.

My hubby is a die hard deviled egg fan and when he saw the dish on Jimmy's Famous American Tavern's appetizer list, we had to get them. They were served in a cute little perfectly white egg dish with a side of chips. What made these deviled eggs special is the fact that one of the ingredients listed were jalepenos! Unfortunately, we felt that there was no kick or bite to the deviled eggs as one would expect given the jalepeno ingredient. Also, we found them to be a bit on the sweet side as opposed to that savory flavor we were hoping to receive.

I would definitely come back for a full meal. The atmosphere looked fun and family-friendly. The customer service was stellar!
