Price Range: $10-15
Atmosphere: Quiet, business, casual.
The Crowd: A standard mix of local business people, casually-dressed college students, quiet middle-aged couples.
Cuisine: Japanese (teppanyaki and sushi)
Review: Recently changed ownership but the decor experience seems to be the same.
Note Review Done Before Ownership Change: Though its décor and atmosphere bear all the hallmarks of a traditional Japanese experience, Sengoku's cuisine would probably be a little upsetting to any classically trained sushi chef. One thing most people count on at sushi restaurants is a flawless execution of the basic elements (i.e. crisp flavor pairings, cool textures of rice and fish and neat construction. After experiencing several dishes at this Placentia restaurant (only a few miles from Cal State Fullerton), Sengoku seemed to falter on all of these levels in varying degrees.
