Mimi's Cafe describes their cuisine as taste of France. Maybe they are alluding to hint of country French with their quiche and breads but most of the menu seems pretty Americanized. I was fortunate to take advantage of are prefix three for $9.99 menu. It included your choice of soup or salad then of choice of a select dinner item followed by an ice cream Sunday for dessert. You can't really complain with that deal. I was very tempted to try the much talked about grilled cheese but I opted for the prefix. I began with the tomato bisque which was perfectly delicious. They did not bring our bread out automatically. We had to request it. I already finished my soup by the time it came out so I barely ate the bread. I lamented brief of how the bread and soup would have been a nice combination. Next, I had the Chicken Brie Dijon atop sauteed spinach dressing the mashed potato at the bottom. The presentation was attractive and the chicken was not over or underseasoned. The spinach could have been a tad more flavorful and the potatos were perfect. Honestly, by the time dessert came around I did not want it. I was too full but I did squeeze in a bit of a taste of the vanilla ice cream topped with a caramel sauce.
Now, my dining companion has been to Mimi's several times. She say the have good muffins and when you look at the menu then you clearly see it is an item heavily promoted. Mimi's serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mimi's Cafe is a casual dining establishment with several locations in California. I visited the one in Chatsworth, CA bordering the Northridge area. I would dine there again but this time for breakfast.
