Chatsworth, CA: Review of Los Toros Restaurant

Los Toros is a very popular spot in the north western part of the valley called chatsworth, the kind of place that does need a review.  It has 40 years of word of mouth having opened in 1967.  This is the wild west country in this part of town with a neighboring country and western saloon in walking distance. Los Toros is known for authentic Mexican food and cheap eats.

It is kind of a rowdy type of place at on certain days,  crowded during big sports events and weekend nights.  I went with a couple of friends.  I heard about the place but never gone.  It is definitely has a fun and social vibe.  My peach frozen margarita was tasty but not rich with peach flavor while my friend enjoyed drinking a classic margarita on the rocks. She is a proclaimed regular.  We shared a sample platter consisting of taquitos, flautas, taquitos and quesadillas.  Everything was good especially the carnitas.  The tortillas were not over fried and hard despite a busy dinner hour.  It took us 30 minutes to be seated so we waited in the bar area and lucked out on some seats while we waited to dine.

After receiving your menus rather than simply having the standard salsa & chips only, there is a bean dip sauce provided as well. It was pretty good yet I did not quite know what to make of it yet I recognized it as a unique touch.  All in all, I was pleased. I would categorize as goods times place with cheap eats for the evening.  The daytime may have a different vibe.  They also have Sunday brunch.
