Ms. Adams was glad to see the show point out that simply watching Bring It On is not only way to prepare to become a cheerleader. Here are some pointers from the expert:
- Warm up for a half hour to an an hour.(run a few laps, stretch or run or down stairs) You need the breath for a 3 minute routine. Stretch your legs to prevent injury. Try to doing weights for lifting because you have to lift another person. Push- ups for upper body strength..
- Basic Cheerleading includes motions(10 to 15 arm motions and hand position).
- Learn basic jumps, standing preps for jumps, cartwheels, and tumbling.
- Learn basic cheers and dances.
- Have a knowledge of Pyramid Building/stunting.
*Ms. Adams notes that unfortunately many inner city cheerleaders are not privy to opportunities to have proper gymnastics training. Remember safety first and have fun!
Hellcat stars many familiar faces including Alyson Michalka, Ashley Tisdale, Robbie Jones, and Sharon Leal.
