Our first stop is in Germany. If you play a sport you might eat oranges or crackers for halftime. However, for a German rugby player at halftime, kids eat German Gold. German Gold is basically pretzels dipped in spicy mustard. Some even eat it with honey mustard.
Now let us move down under to Australia. Australians take the idea of a cookie to a whole new level. They enjoy Down under Delights. Down under delights are two crunchy squares filled with crème, caramel, and coated with chocolate. They are almost like kit kat bars, but they replaced the peanut butter with caramel.
Continuing, we take off to Thailand where their snacks are almost like mini meals. Their dish is called Wasabi peas mix. It is made of rice crackers tossed with spicy wasabi peas, sesame sticks, and roasted almonds.
Lastly we look at the Italian snack, Italian Buzz, which is pretty much a saltine cracker glazed with sweet honey. If you enjoy sweet snacks with a ting of salt this is a perfect kids snack for you.
Identifying snacks from around the world can be fun and useful. Keep in mind even if we live on a different continent and have different cultures or religions, we all share two things in common, we can all connect through food and we all share this big blue ball we call, Earth.
