Parents there is hope in the book Best Behavior: A Celebration of Good Manners for Our African American Children  written by Debra M. Henry M.D.  The principles hold true for a child of any race but especially for those children of color suffering from issues of image.  The author cleverly uses poetry to instruct children to how to act properly in various situations.  The book is meant for young readers.

Especially valid are getting into topics such as the power of a handshake, bad words, titles and surnames to address adults in these times lessons such as these seem to be getting lost.

The photography in the book is beautiful and features children of various complexions.  The children are well dressed and executing images of good manners such a young boy pulling out a chair for a girl at dinner.  Chilvary is not dead.  We can pass it down for generations to come.
