Cooking_With_Stella_posterCooking with Stella is a zany film directed by the acclaimed Dilip Mehta. It is co-written with her sister.  The story is a bit disjointed but the leading lady played by Seema Biswas is a delightfully mischievous character.  However, the expectations of the title and what is actually delivered left me disappointed as a foodie.  In films like Eat Drink Man Woman, Tortilla Soup, and even Godfather's Three(The Gnocchi scene), the food was memomorable.  This film generally falls short, there no real invitation through the cinematography devour the food with your eyes.

Actually, a better job is done in moments of dialogue pertaining to food such as  Stella's "Apple pie" suggestion.

This film also features the beautiful part Indian, Lisa Ray portraying a Canadian Ambassador to India.  Her husband is a chef in need of an Indian Guru in the kitchen.

The Food:  If you can't make it to the Bengali Sweet House in New Delhi, India then try your hand at making Indian Pudding although Stella would tell you  what you make depends on the who you are serving.  Indian Pudding for the British and make Apple Pie for Indians.(It's a movie inside joke)
