Film and Foodie Review: Captain America

Before I saw this film, I mentioned to someone that a film like this was something America needs right now.  With an ongoing depressed economy many spirits can be low.  The hero, Captain America was born under similar circumstances in American history.  This film is filled with patriotism.  It is unlike most superhero films.  It truly comes across as a story of a nice guy given a break and wanting to good for the sake of, not only America, but mankind. No pun intended, but the character of Captain America comes across as a super man.

Chris Evans provides an awesome performance of Captain America filled with humility.  Don't expect to see a reprisal of his performance of Johnny Storm.  The love story is solid.  It doesn't feel contrived.  As for the villian, you can not go wrong when Hugo Weaving of the Matrix/Lord of the Rings fame takes on the portrayal of Red Skull.  Another notable peformance comes from U.K.'s Dominic Cooper as a young Howard Stark (Iron ManTony Stark's Dad).

The Food: The Movie is American as apple pie so go to a good ol' fashion dinner and order a slice.  However, if this is a date night plan to go dancing.  See the film and you will know why this is suggested.

MCCN has a number of patriotic recipes such as the Blue Martini and Blue Razz Sundae.  When this hits DVD check out our patriotic cookout ideas.
