Spain: Botin Restaurant (Oldest Restaurant in the World)
According to the Guinness Book of Records (see certificate), this is the oldest restaurant in the world, dating from 1725. The restaurant is also mentioned in the book Fortunata y Jacinta by Benito Pérez Gald¢s (published 1886-1887) and Goya supposedly worked here before becoming a painter. Botín Restaurant, on Calle Cuchilleros Street, open to the public since 1725! The restaurant is so unique that it received a special mention from Ernest Hemingway in his famous novel The Sun Also Rises. Try their specialty dish: roasted suckling pig.
