This multi-cultural beautiful actress is truly a working actress in Hollywood. Oh sure she has got connections like two famous parents, award winning music producer Quincy Jones and actress Peggy Lipton. However, there is a vulnerability in Ms. Jones eyes and her performances which probably has casting directors signing her up for more. Some would say her beauty coupled with her racially ambiguous/passing looks make her an appealing choice. Like Vanesssa Williams,Jones is constantly cast opposite White men. It is a touchy subject because honestly any working actress dark skinned Black, Indian, Latina, Asian or White is vying for a role versus the leading man. Consequently, the leading man in bigger budget films or for most film produced in Hollywood will often be White. Nevertheless, simply recalling who her famous daddy is helps to make the rose colored glasses tinted a bit more brown. Congrats to Rashida for landing roles in this competive market.
As for her ethnicity, dad Quincy Jones is African American. Her mom's side consists of Jewish-Russian, Jewish-Irish, and Welsh. After practicing Hinduism, she later connected with her Jewish roots and religion. She often finds herself finding a connection with Jewish men who practice the religion. Jones says, "I don't see it as a necessity, but there's something about it that I connect with for whatever reason."
Jones will be in the highly anticipated movie "The Social Network" based on the beginnings of the facebook by some Harvard students. Ironically, the actress is a Harvard graduate.
