Ironically, he won for The Pianist, a moving holocaust story which of course deals with issues of bigotry. In an interview with the Vancouver Sun, Brody shared this about his experience "...You know, when I got back from shooting The Pianist with Roman Polanski, I went to get a pizza after being deprived sugar and carbohydrates ... and I almost cried. I can have food on my table when I'm hungry. I can go where I want to go without fear of being persecuted for my beliefs. We have remarkable freedom in our society and I became aware of how precious it is."
Brody was born to a father of Polish Jewish descent and a Hungarian Catholic mother. The dynamic actor has two movies out this summer Splice and the higly anticipated Predators.
