Cultural Trailblazer: Sandra Bullock

This year Sandra Bullock was nominated by the NAACP for her role in the Blind Side for her role mothering an African American young man but in real life the German American has a history giving voice to minorities with her role as Producer.  Her production company Fortis Films gave the green light to the George Lopez show.  The Blind Side seeks to shows family love with out color being a factor.  This year she won the Oscar for best actress and in her speech she took the time to thank her mother " making her learn there’s no religion, class system and no race or no color..." when it comes to how you treat people.

 

Her Cultural Roots

The Arlington, Viriginia born actress was born to a German mother named Helga D. Meyer. Her father, John Bullock is of Anglo-American heritage. She retains German citizenship and speaks German fluently. 

There are several sites that claim Bullock is an Albanian name and the her father is of Albanian descent.
