M.I.A’s background is also very interesting because it relates to her cultural heritage of Sri Lanka Tamil. Some of the common traditional foods in Sri Lanka include: Jackfruits, Durian, Wood apple, Kiribath (milk rice) and Rice Curry. Jackfruits are large fruits the size of watermelons which are used in pudding and or to make curry. Jackfruits originated from South Asia and are grown in many other places such as the Caribbean Islands, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Uganda.
The Durian is a type of fruit that is the shell of the Wood apple. The Wood apple
is the fruit that can be made into a tasty beverage or a rich pudding. Kiribath also known as milk rice, is a type of dish in which the rice is cook with thick coconut cream and topped with a chili relish called Lunumiris. With this in mind the Sri Lankan background according to traditional foods is quite interesting because it originates from different parts of the world which defines the essence of Sri Lankan foods.
