If it is not my family members crabbing then it is Eddie's Crabhouse in Chesapeake, Virginia which set the standard of the crab consuming experience.  This is a pick up and go kind of place for most but I assure Eddie's Chesapeake Crabhouse has a revolving door of devoted customers.

Doumars is a classic restaurant, a part of historical landscape of Virginia. Abe Doumar came from Damascus, Syria; and created the first ice cream cone at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. One evening he purchased a waffle from a nearby vendor, rolled it into a cone and topped it with ice cream.

Located in the Greenbriar area of Chesapeake is Passion Restaurant providing fine dining by Chef Garrett Barner.  Do not be deceived by the location inShe_Crab_Soup_small the strip-mall.  Fine Dining is happening here.  Many restaurants are guarded about table clothes, putting glass covers over them.  At Passion the table linens are completely exposed just fine dining would dictate.

As for cuisine, it is a delight.  For starters, the she-crab soup is fabulous with its large lumps of truffle oil infused crab meat.  The presentation almost humorously clever yet elegant with its crab claws placed as a star attraction in the soup.

No Frills guarantees to thrill in cuisine.  The menu is fun and innovative more importantly the food pops with flavor.   I had the chance to sample a number of dishes.  Nothing disappointed.  The peach tea was too sweet but in the food department no complaints.  The servers are friendly and attentive.

mary-helens-southern-and-creole-cuisine-imageLocated near downtown Hampton and around the corner from the historic Hampton University is Mary Helen's, a restaurant serving unmistakable Southern Cuisine including Pig's feet and Chittlin's (Chitterlings) to an extensive Creole menu. Admittedly, I have not eaten Pig's feet or Chitterlings in 20 years but the flavors in my mouth were like the memory of an old tune's chorus, "Reunited and it feels so good." For this review, my dining companions included my mother and sister. We arrive at lunch time on a Wednesday when the lunch buffet traditionally happens.
