Conveniently Located near the Meyerhoff, the cultural center and a generally artsy part of town, the City Cafe serves up good food.  On a Wednesday night about 8PM a friend of mine and I entered the crowded restaurant.   The front part of the establishment is truly a cafe with people set up with laptops.  The back portion is a a nice dining area with menu offerings such as strawberry & goat cheese salad, watermelon & feta bruschetta, and crabcake of course.  This is Maryland—restaurants find a way to put crab on the menu.

Only down fall to this report is that it took us at least 20 minutes for even a drink order to be taken.  After grabbing the attention of the hostess, we finally had someone attend to us.  From that point on, the waitress was very attentive.

Our dishes would include the Chicken Medallions and chicken caesar salad.  Although my dining companion pined for the Black angus burger, he stayed true to limiting his beef intake for the week by deciding on the chicken caesar salad.  My order of the Chicken Medallions consists of smoked mozzarella, pancetta, mushroom, potato and has wilted greens and drizzled with a marsala cream.  It sounds like quite a bit; however, portion were sufficient and modest.

Price: Average entree between $12 and $20

Atmosphere: Eclectic and casual
