Baltimore area foodies rejoice! You will no longer have to pile in cars for road trips to the nearest SONIC! August 13, 2010 will mark the grand opening of the first SONIC in Baltimore. The restaurant will be located at 8212 Liberty Rd. at the Rolling Rd. intersection. Opening week hours will be 10am to 10pm.

Touted as America’s Drive In, SONIC started as a 1953 hamburger and root beer stand in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Originally called the Top Hat Drive-In, the name SONIC was given to all locations in 1959. Now, more than 50 years later SONIC maintains 3,500 drive-ins nationwide. Boasting an award winning menu, SONIC is home to more than168, 000 drink combinations including Cherry Limeades and Real Fruit Slushes.

Truly an American classic, in a few short hours SONIC will be serving Ex-Long Cheese Conies and Chicken Club Toasters to the delight of many in the Baltimore area.
