Baltimore: Sip & Bite

I entered Baltimore on Sunday night of a 3 day holiday weekend with bleak hopes for finding restaurants open after 10 PM, but if you make your way just past Fells Point, there is a 24 hour diner called Sip & Bite.  It caught my eye with its steel siding, neon lights and airy windows, which invite you to come on in.  Additionally, they proudly sport a sign that lets you know they’ve been featured on Food Network and who needs more street cred than a visit by Guy Fieri?  Word of mouth and good food has kept this establishment open since 1948.

The smell of homefries cooking in the air is prevalent and appetizing.  My seat was a little run down in appearance but the rest of the place was nice.  With a span of hanging out and dining from about 11pm. to 12 am., a number of customers streamed in and out of the place.  The restaurant attracts a diverse ethnic crowd.

The prices are very reasonable.  For two orders of cheese, ham and spinach omlettes with homesfries and toast, my bill was $13.95.  I enjoyed the omlette.  My cousin/dining partner thought he could do better at IHOP.   The homefries were decent.  The potatoes seemed fresh. However, there was not much seasoning.  I found myself lightly salting, adding pepper and ketchup to them.

It’s a 24 hour diner.  Those are always great to know about.
